Subscription to Bible Study Blog

In an attempt to keep this blog alive, Danny and I have decided to force subscribe all members of the bible study in receiving emails whenever posts and comments are made on the blog. Should you wish to unsubscribe for any reason just leave a note anywhere, anytime on this blog and I will take you off, no questions asked. (But everyone will witness it! ;p)

So please feel free to share whatever you wish to: random thoughts, prayer requests, thanksgivings, verses, etc. In this age of digital technology we still can keep in touch despite being continents apart.

God Bless!

Dinner

I had a great time at dinner on Tuesday. It was a timely break from the lab and I just realised it might just be the last time (*gasp*) I'll see some of you. I remember I promised to talk about 'peace' sometime for bible study but never found time to prepare it. Did you guys cover that maybe during the weeks I wasn't around? Anyway, once I get around to compiling my thoughts about the topic I'll post it on this blog.

Also, currently I'm controlling the mailing list for this blog (of which there are only 2 subscribers - me and Danny). So maybe we can discuss if we want to keep this blog alive or what? I've caught the blogging bug so I'm for keeping it alive. But if no one is going to read it then...

Links to some online material

I remember we were discussing at one bible study why innocent children have to suffer. Well, here is a poem written by Judith Bronte that attempts to answer the question.

Why did God allow the devastating tsunami to happen last year? This article gives a very lengthy but thorough analysis entitled 'Asian Tsunamis of 2004 and Endtime Christianity'.

Also, the vision of 'The Five Angels of the Continents' given to Dr. Samuel Doctorian in 1998 on the Isle of Patmos, Greece. This is the place where John received the Revelation that is the last book of the bible.

Sharing Christ

I must say that last night's sharing by Steven and Carol on Sharing the Gospel stirred up something in me. I personally have always felt uncomfortable bringing up Christ as something to talk about to non-Christians, simply because I generally don't like to impose my views on other people. I could get into theological discussions no problem, but I never could bring up Jesus as a Saviour/Redeemer into my conversations. I felt like it was forcing something down someone's throat and I sure didn't like others doing that to me! And so I've always kept quiet about Jesus, always hoping for a good opportunity to talk about him, but never "felt" like it was the right moment. At the same time, I was feeling guilty about not doing my part in fulfilling the Great Commission.

But after hearing last night's sharing, I now feel like I can share the Gospel without having to slap it into non-Christians' faces! In fact, by living Christ-like lives, we are technically already spreading the Word of God by being His beacon in this world. I realised that my responsibility isn't converting non-believers, but just letting them know who Christ is and what He has done for us. Suddenly the task at hand becomes so much easier and so much more doable!

Matthew 5:14a, 16
"You are the light of the world ... let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
